I recently crossed paths with someone who had worked at a company, which was then called Harrah’s, during the same general time period as myself. The logo had a cute little star in place of the apostrophe before the s, which I always thought gave it a touch of magic. And it did turn out to be quite magical for my career.
As he and I were reminiscing about those years, we remembered getting a missive on the “Theory of Completed Staff Work.” He wished he had a copy to give to his staff now as he thought it quite relevant today as well. I was happy to oblige as I had saved this in my file of memorable career advice.
In those years the company was going through tremendous growth and change – chaos or fun, resistance or opportunity depending on your perspective. I have heard it said that people do not necessarily mind change, it’s the change forced upon them by someone else that they resist.
