There have been numerous transformations in casino gaming namely due to technological advancements. When I first started in the business some 30 years ago, games were fed by coin and tokens. Players walked around with coin buckets and supplied the machine one coin at a time. Player’s hands were filthy from the coins. Complimentary coin buckets and hand wipes were readily available at the casino cashiers and player’s clubs. A common promotion was the slot glove or galvanized slot bucket.
Denominations were nickels, quarters and dollars with high limit featuring five-, ten- and twenty-five-dollar games. Then came pennies.
Pennies from heaven… At that time, games were grouped by denomination. There were penny, nickels and dimes, quarters and dollar sections. The penny section was crowed.
