Art imitates life, or so they say. A good story in a book or on a screen attracts us in several ways. Sometimes it is because we identify with the characters, or we identify with their situation. There is something personal going on between Tony Stark, Frodo Baggins, and the audience. Either it is empathy or sometimes sympathy, but it is why we love the stories. We see ourselves in those roles in some way.
Why is this? Why do we carry this connection to a figment of a writer’s mind? It is intentional, and it comes from something called “the beats.”
