I didn’t think that I could get the Coronavirus, but it turns out I did. My temperature never went up a degree, and I never felt sick, but nonetheless I got it.
As I, and the rest of the world, watched the number of cases go up across the country in March, I said to myself, “Pandemic?” That seems like a drastic use of the word. When I think of a pandemic, I think of the scene from Monty Python’s Holy Grail where the guy is rolling the cart around and yelling, “Bring out your dead!” Instead, we have this weird pandemic, where people aren’t dying in the streets… actually the streets are empty.
So how did I get the Coronavirus? Well it’s simple. I got it the same way you did. I know, I know, you’re saying “John, I never got the Coronavirus.” Actually, you did, but like me, you didn’t have any of the actual disease. Therefore, you, and I, and the rest of the world caught the Coronavirus…second hand.
You see a virus is a disease that attacks the body and spreads from cell to cell and host to host. The difference with the second hand Coronavirus is that we can actually see this virus jumping all over the place. I can even see how it infected me, from the symptoms to the full-blown disease. Let me try to explain as best I can how it happened.
