Good business leaders always strive to find the right balance between advancing their organizations to compete in the marketplace and creating an environment in which their people feel appreciated. One of the most important elements of a business is its people. Any business strategy is only as good as the people implementing it; the people are only as good as the culture allows them to be; and the culture is only as good as the leaders who formed it.
Leaders are hired to position organizations for success. They form strategies, drive execution, address customers’ needs, and deliver the value that is expected by the company’s owners or shareholders. However, business leaders cannot do this alone. They need people to help them achieve the company’s objectives. Some leaders are lucky enough to join organizations that already have a good culture and good people, but how to maintain and continuously improve is also a leader’s priority. Some leaders are tasked to build a good culture to lure and recruit good people, which is not an easy task in today’s competitive work environment.
