Cloud computing is probably one of the most disruptive technologies affecting our information systems business models. It comes with the promise of long-term reductions in infrastructure costs and increases in productivity and flexibility, helping us survive and succeed in this ever-changing business landscape.
In the simplest terms, cloud computing is accessing and delivering information resources over the Internet. These resources could be located on quite a few different types of service models, e.g., Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IssA), Private cloud, or a combination of these known as a Hybrid cloud.
Each of these technology services comes with inherit dangers, most of the time not properly understood during the selection and implementation processes. Let’s review some basic facts about these technologies and at minimum present some online resources to help us understand the risks and ways to mitigate them.
