Wagering on the game of Golf is about as old as the game itself. Whether it’s a tournament at a private club, or a friendly game on a public course, betting on amateur golf is common around the world.
Though historically banned, organized pari-mutuel betting on club tournaments have been commonplace. These behind-the-scenes betting events were typically arranged off-site at men’s stag nights for Member-Member, Member-Guest and similar club competitions.
The pari-mutuel betting method commonly adopted at golf club events is similar to the wagering methods widely used in horse racing as well as bike, boat and auto racing.
