2020 to Today
March 2020 is more than three years ago, but the impact on staffing remains a friction point. I do not think that any industry was hit as hard as gaming and hospitality. The indefinite closures that were mandated and the element of health vulnerability across our guest population required drastic personnel and staffing actions.
The furloughs and reductions in force created so much uncertainty that many employees were forced to look for jobs outside our industry. The exodus of talented and skilled employees created longer-term problems. The employment boom across other industries that would follow the pandemic a year later caused our experienced employee base to shrink significantly.
