The COVID-19 pandemic has become a catalyst for change. What was once “normal” in the workplace and society at large may never return. Replacing handshakes to a nod of the head, working from home, web-based conference sessions or becoming contactless are all necessary measures to try and contain the spread of the virus. In compliance with state and local health and safety protocols on business operations, casinos have focused their reopening strategies on safe interactions and contact with employees, while continuing to provide the highest level of guest services. Guests and employee health and safety protocols include employee/guest temperature screenings, increasing rigor and frequency of cleaning protocols, mandating masks, and enforcing social distancing. The desire to provide a safe casino patron experience has driven operator demand for and the acceleration of the deployment of cashless, self-service, and touchless solutions.
