
The global gaming industry experienced impressive growth in the second quarter of 2024. Domestic markets experienced accelerated growth fueled by the sports betting and iGaming sectors, while major markets in East Asia continued their recovery from extended pandemic-related restrictions.
Domestic commercial gaming revenue reached $17.6 billion in the second quarter of 2024, according to the American Gaming Association. On an annual basis, gaming revenue increased 8.9 percent from the second quarter of 2023. Sports betting and iGaming continued to grow rapidly, increasing 35.3 percent and 25.2 percent, respectively, to totals of $3.2 billion and $2.0 billion. Table game revenue experienced more moderate growth, increasing 2.5 percent to $2.5 billion on the year. Slot revenue, the largest component of total gaming revenue, reached $9.0 billion in the second quarter, a 1.9 percent increase from the second quarter of 2023.
