The global gaming industry posted impressive results in 2023 due to steady gains in the domestic gaming market coupled with markets reopening and regaining their footing in Asia.
U.S. gaming revenue set yet another annual record in 2023 generating $66.5 billion, or a 9.9 percent increase from 2022, according to the American Gaming Association. The latest performance was the third consecutive year of record-setting activity. The success of the industry was not exclusive to one particular segment. Brickand-mortar casinos witnessed a 3.3 percent revenue increase to $49.4 billion, and sports betting revenue grew by 44.5 percent to set a new high of $10.9 billion during the past year. Revenue sourced to iGaming (internetbased gaming activity), which is active in six states, grew 22.9 percent over the year to $6.2 billion.
