When I was in the 9th grade, girls were required to take typing/typewriter class. We learned the proper way to outline a business letter, spacing, punctuation, purpose of word choice and what proper envelope formatting is and how to use whiteout/corrector tape.
Now here we are in 2026 – these items aren’t taught in the same manner, if taught at all. Yes, students learn how to use a computer keyboard and what an email is … typing a business letter and addressing an envelope – what is that?!
There is an art to creating a business email to illicit a response/appreciation from a client, supplier or coworker. A business email is a representation of YOU – personality, language skills and knowledge of your role as a team member.
