Artificial intelligence isn’t really all that artificial; humans create computer programs to quickly perform repetitive tasks that were traditionally done by people. AI programs can also be written to take over certain casino security measures, such as ID scanning and facial recognition, that would take humans way too long to complete.
While AI security is poised to replace human security guards for certain functions, you’ll find that AI and human intelligence can get the job done together.
Defining Human Intelligence & AI
The difference between AI and human intelligence really comes down to the ability to make the connections between cause and effect. Humans process information gleaned from a variety of sources in ways that are unique to the individual, while AI is trained to process data that’s fed into the system.
Function
Humans use their brain’s memory, have the ability to process, and can think. People run through myriad scenarios, outcomes, and consequences based on what they experience throughout the course of their day, the week, a month, and so on.
Instead of a brain, AI relies on data and instructions to carry out activities as designed by the people who write the programs. Machines only process information related to specific events; they cannot change the parameters of the program or adapt their responses if there is a breach of any kind in the data set. In that case, the only output you’ll see is an error message.
Nature
The nature vs. nurture debate applies only to people. While people are born with certain genetic characteristics that influence their personalities, human intelligence adapts to new things by relying on cognitive activities and processes.
AI relies on machines to imitate human behavior to complete jobs that were normally tasked to humans. AI doesn’t exist without machines designed to perform the tasks, and machines can’t function without AI programming.
