If I was writing this same article 10 years ago today, the chances of me asking someone outside of the IT department to contribute to it is probably somewhere around…oh I don’t know…zero! In fact, if I did ask a GM or CFO to answer questions like, “What technology have you recently installed or are looking at implementing?” most would have likely responded with, “Here’s the email for my IT guy or girl.” But today, in 2023, with technology at the heart of operations and the guest experience, I wouldn’t even think of writing this article without the input from executives both inside and outside of the IT department. Luckily, they thought so, too.
We will hear from Antionio Perez, AGM and COO from Rolling Hills Casino Resort. The casino resort is owned by the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, employs more than 500 people, and is located in Northern California. Also weighing in is Dawn McGrady, Director of Finance at Little River Casino Resort in Michigan. Dawn has experience working at multiple tribal properties across the U.S. and is a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe. We also welcome Cheryl Smith, who shares her insight from the CIO’s perspective. Cheryl is currently the Interim CIO for Pearl River Resort, owned and operated by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Cheryl has been with the property for 27 years, is one of the longest attending TribalNet attendees, and has been coming to the G&L roundtable for years – a big friend to this industry!
I thought about keeping my favorite question for last but instead let’s get right to it! First up I asked, “Is there anything about 2023 that keeps you up at night and what are you doing to help not lose too much sleep over it?”
