Bristol Associates Inc. in partnership with Spectrum Gaming Group conducted the 22nd Annual Casino Gaming Executive Satisfaction Survey in September 2022. The survey is an annual resource that provides gaming professionals the opportunity to share their views on their workplace and the industry at large. With a total of 877 unique responses, the latest survey included questions related to hiring trends, employee wellness, and work preferences.
In September, nearly three-fourths of employed professionals expressed that staffing at their organization will need to increase in the next year. Among employed hiring authorities, 92% have faced hiring challenges at their company. Furthermore, less than a quarter were somewhat dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with how their organization has handled these obstacles. Visual A represents the type of hiring issues in percentages.
On an average basis, 52% of employed respondents feel somewhat stressed (41%) or very stressed (11%) at work. The top three reasons for their stress include: (1) having too much work to handle from being understaffed; (2) wearing multiple hats; and (3) working long hours. Other common reasons that respondents disclosed in the write-in portion of the survey involve micromanagement, high employee turnover, and unrealistic expectations with performance goals.
