FIRST, 8 QUESTIONS WITH JEANNIE
JC: Peter, when we met, we were both young in our careers. The one thing we always had in common is we were both driven. I of course knew you’d become a GM or CEO. I’d say as CGO you’d have reached your goal, but you just went back and graduated from law school, on top of your MBA. What was the drive that led you to the decision to go to law school and where do you hope this will take you professionally?
PA: My decision to go to law school was personal because I wanted to study law for many years but could never find the time or an academic schedule that would fit well with a fulltime job. When the Master of Legal Studies program at UCLA presented itself as an option for executives that have full time schedules, I jumped on the chance to fulfill my dream of studying law. I didn’t think of the benefits it would have on my professional career; it was a personal pursuit. However, the knowledge I have gained has led me to become a more effective leader in our organization. I have developed a stronger appreciation for those that practice law and how it fits into the overall strategy of the organization.
