I bought a home in 2009. Oh, I know what you are all thinking. YOU DID WHAT? Yeah, I know. I thought the market had dropped all it was going to drop, and it was at its rock bottom. I was wrong.
So wrong.
To add insult to injury, I had just opened a property in my very first Vice President role, and it was decided only four months after my home purchase that they didn’t need Vice Presidents, and we were all laid off.
You might say it was a dark period in my life. However, dark periods happen throughout everyone’s career and life; you just do what you must do to get back up. In my case, I spent a few months with my fellow VPs at a bar called The Streets of London. Every Friday night, we had drinks and talked about how we were doing, where we were interviewing, and mostly, how much we hated the company and the people for what they did to us.
