The global gaming industry delivered positive results in the second quarter of 2025, with U.S. and East Asian markets continuing to expand.
Domestic commercial gaming revenue reached $19.4 billion in the second quarter of 2025, up 9.8 percent from the same period in 2024 and marking the industry’s 18th straight quarter of growth, according to the American Gaming Association. Sports betting continued to expand rapidly, with sports betting revenue climbing 20.6 percent year over year to a record $3.9 billion. Traditional land-based casino gaming generated $12.9 billion, a more modest 2.8 percent increase from the previous year.
At the state level, the expansion was widespread, with 37 of 38 jurisdictions reporting revenue gains compared to the prior year. Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey led growth among large markets, with year-over-year increases of 18.3 percent, 16.1 percent, and 14.6 percent, respectively.
