In many ways technology is operations, and operations are defined by technology. The title of this article is not meant to offend or minimize the importance of any Chief Operation Officers (COO) reading this, rather it is stating the fact that all organizations need to recognize the ever increasing skillset and experience demanded of high-performing Chief Information Officers (CIO) in 2025. Across every single department or division of an enterprise or tribe, their operations, efficiency and success are increasingly dependent on technology systems and processes. Technology is not simply handed off at the door of each operational department for those teams to figure it out on their own, rather the technology team, led by the CIO, is engaged in the operational trenches to deliver upon the business/organizational strategy.
