In the summer of 2023 I wrote an article about ChatGPT and the foundations of Artificial Intelligence (AI). I did not even mention machine learning (ML) or GenerativeAI even though they had been around for over 100 years. You know why? Because nobody had seriously thought about using these technologies within hospitality. Here we are just over fifteen months later and there are serious discussions occurring within the industry in how to deploy, utilize and leverage
these technologies in a variety of ways to make the guests’ hospitality experience more rewarding, easier, and better than ever before. Based on the variety of commercials one is exposed to by vendors, AI might very well not only make one’s vacation easier than ever before but all aspects of one’s life and family time. As a point of reference, the past writer’s strike in Hollywood was concerned with AI. Without getting into labor discussions, the new CBA had AI-specific protections aimed at AI-generated content, scripts, music, and artwork. So yes, AI has become much more than “a thing.”
