It was with high expectations that I accepted the offer to attend the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld in Puerto Vallarta, scheduled for February 2025. Having experienced quite a few high-level coastal golf courses and resorts around the world, it was with pleasure that I had this first opportunity in Mexico. As you’ll note through the sixdays onsite, it’s a resort worthy of “G&L’s International Road Trip”.
The 4-day professional golf tournament is the most important PGA TOUR event held in Mexico. The selection of Vidanta Vallarta was certainly the best possible selection to host the event. Further information on the annual event can be found online at: https://www.mexicoopen.mx/
Provided with accommodations, transport and all the amenities for six days, the handful of golf-media attendees were given access to walk the full course at any time, as well as observe from the VIP hospitality lounges surrounding the 18th green. Needless to say, the VIP lounge was our 19th-hole venue throughout the four days of the event (20-23 February).
Not only were we, the media and spectators, treated to a thrilling four rounds of highly competitive golf, but also to two suddendeath playoff holes where Brian Campbell (USA) was able to fend-off Aldrich Potgieter (South Africa) for his first PGA Tour victory.
