I love structure. I guess it is something I picked up in the Navy, because I was raised in chaos. Or maybe it is because I rebel against that chaos, so I became obsessed with structure. Either way, I have learned to love it and, more importantly, apply it to my life.
The funny part about structure is that when you wrap other people around it, it tends to fall apart, requiring us to change the structure to fit the new life.
I have been married a couple of times – okay, a few times – let’s not judge. I have always been a work in progress. My early life didn’t exactly give me a roadmap for healthy relationships. Still, structural change became, at first, a source of resentment, then something I got used to, and eventually something I learned to embrace like a thick coat in winter.
