There is no doubt 2024 was the year when AI was everywhere, every vendor was pushing their new AI features, every company was researching how to get into the game quickly and economically, sort of like jumping into Crypto or Blockchain before we totally understood it. The AI craze was moving so fast by the time you used ChatGPT to do your research, the information was already changing. In some cases, enterprises were trying to decide whether to build or buy a platform to deploy these strategies. After all, why not just use ChatGPT to accomplish these initiatives? Why do I need to spend on some platform that has no track record of use cases or APIs in our industry? What is my development cost, security and guardrails? Which LLM is the best? Who owns my use cases? Finally, what are my LLM token costs?
In a recent CIO Magazine article, the author noted that in companies “under pressure to deploy AI within their organizations, most CIOs fear they don’t have the knowledge they need about the fast-changing technology.”
